Big fish hunting
A big fish fishing tool is a system consisting of a fishing rod, reel and base (nylon or braided line), each part of which has a load capacity of at least 30 lb or more. The hook for fishing big fish with big fish fishing tools must be a circle hook, and the hook and all metal parts used to connect the base or leader (swivels, clips, etc.) must not be made of stainless steel. Exceptionally, when using lures, a classic single-hook hook (the so-called J-classic hook) may be used. When fishing big fish, the use of fighting poles and attracting fish using a rod holder attached to the hull of the vessel is prohibited. Fishing with big fish fishing tools is permitted only from a vessel that is registered in the permit for fishing with big fish fishing tools.
In sport and recreational fishing for bluefin tuna and egret, fishing is permitted only on a catch-and-release basis, so that the caught tuna or egret must be released before being brought onto the vessel. Exceptionally, caught bluefin tuna may be brought onto the vessel exclusively as part of recreational fishing for trophy tuna, in accordance with a special regulation regulating recreational fishing for trophy tuna.
Tuna fishing in sport and recreational fishing is permitted from 1 May at 00:00 to 1 November at 24:00.
